What is the history of your home? When we first purchased the property there was the 30’x40’ shop, a well and a 200 Amp electrical panel. We have built it into a locus of sustainability and beauty. It is our home, we love our home. What do you love about it? We love the pastoral setting with the garden and animal compound. We love being able to have a multi-family home. The land is peaceful. Our house is beautiful. Why did you buy it or build it? We had a vision and prospect of self-sustainability in a private, pleasing setting. What will you miss about it? Everything, it is our sanctuary. But especially, the berries in summer, the colorful fall leaves and smell of wood burning, the snow covering the trees in winter, the peonies in spring and the fresh air year-round. We will miss the deer and the elk coming through. The separate spacious pantry and reloading rooms. We will miss our custom crafted rock burn pit. We will miss being able to get on our side-by-side and within 10 minutes be in hunting and recreational area on Bunco Mountain. Our farm has been very fulfilling. What will you remember? The animals and their sounds; the rain on the metal roof; the glow of the woodstove as the snow drops softly on the trees outside; the ability to work in the shop; and the complete set-up for when power goes out, there are no worries. Where is the best window? The big window in the living room with its view. What is the most beautiful thing about your home? The apartment with its open ceiling when you first walk in; the kitchen with its beautiful walnut countertops and Portuguese tile. Our home is warm and comforting. Which room is your favorite? Rick spends a lot of time in the living room so it is his favorite. Michelle likes the office because of the windows with their view into the trees where the animals hang out. What little details do you treasure? The warm woodstove in the winter; the deep tub for a long, relaxing bath, the French doors in the master bedroom leading into a quiet back porch retreat; the birds outside who visit every season; the peaceful nights; the winds blowing through the trees. What momentous things have happened to you under this roof? The raising of our 2 year old grand-daughter. We named the farm “Fremont Farms” after our dog, Fremont, whose name means noble protector, guardian of liberty. Why is this a good place to live? We live relatively close to every modern convenience and yet peacefully private. We have spent the years cultivating a multi-family, sustainable, peaceful environment. The property is close to the mountains, lakes and rivers for recreation, hunting and fishing. Our neighbors are friendly, who look out for each other and yet private.
